Traditional Art
Art exists in a million ways, in a million different forms, from many different places, made by many different people. This week I wanted to talk about the traditional art from my country Papua New Guinea. We have a lot of customs and cultures involving many different forms of art like singing, dancing, totem carvings, pottery and paintings. Since it is September, the month in which we celebrate our country's independence, I wanted to find out and explore the traditional art of my country. Firstly, our traditional attire incorporates a lot of art. From the designs of the tattoos to the different colors of the paint and feathers of the many different species in our country. All the provinces of Papua New Guinea have their own way of dressing and dancing traditionally but each province has their story which is showcased and told in their dance and attire.
